The starfield. Here's the basic way to do it:
-Black BG layer at the bottom.
-Black layer for the starfield ---> Filter/Noise/Add Noise (Set to Gaussian and Monochromatic).

From then on, you mess with the Levels, Brightness/Constrast, Colour Balance, Transform and Layer Style. Duplicate it several times with different settings. The cluttered area can be done by using Clone tool, Mode = Screen. You can duplicate the layer and Blur it for good effect, too.

But of course, it still takes a lot of time to make it look believable, like where and how to put the cluttered area and such~

As for the bright star, you do it on a black layer, layer style = Linear Dodge. Then mess with the Lens Flare tool.

Don't be too technical about it, though. Do however you feel right~
